OS Office - The Beginning
OS Office was founded in 2005 with its prime aim to develop an up to date operating system for the extremely popular Sun Cobalt Raq.
Strongbolt used an amalgamation of the most popular open source web development tools combined with a feature rich control panel.
The base operating system chosen was Centos the community enterprise operating system. Centos has a reputation for being a high quality variant of Linux based on the Red Hat source code. Centos has since been adopted as the most popular, flexible web application development environment and is used world wide by companies large and small.
This reliable, flexible and secure operating system was coupled with Blue Quartz. The fusion of these two provided web design and development companies globally the ease-of-use to enable rapid application deployment without indepth unix skills. Combined with this, Strongbolt featured the most popular open source development platforms including PHP 4, Mysql, Apache, Perl and a powerful email system (using sendmail and dovecot) that was easy to configure, enabling small web design companies to offer more than just web hosting.
After it's release in 2006 Strongbolt Linux quickly became one of the most popular installations for the Sun Cobalt Raq leading to further development of
the product and business.
