YUM Update Broken: osOffice repository

This section relates to the soon to be released Strongbolt v2. The BETA stage is nearly over and very soon, you'll be able to download the new ROM firmware, new in-house developed kernel and an installer ISO that runs from a USB stick, plugged into the RaQ rear panel. Life has got a lot easier now...

YUM Update Broken: osOffice repository

I have not seen a update on my test server for quite some time, so today I loged into root via ssh and ran "yum update"

I now get the following.

Setting up Update Process

i dont think that it will be continued ! and as you know nothing appears to be happening with SB anymore, My advice is change any machines running SB over to BlueOnyx if you can.
It is interesting to note that SB is still being offered for sale on this site, I wonder if anyone is or has recently got any support from osoffice ? perhaps someone will enlighten us on this?

eh? you're kidding right?
you mean http://repo.osoffice.co.uk/ has been taken down and that's it? no more updates? I haven't been able to ping http://repo.osoffice.co.uk/ since yesterday when I tried to yum update. Any more info appreciated.

I found a soluton to this problem (from a clever bloke)
first install the rpmforge repo if you haven't got it already.

wget http://packages.sw.be/rpmforge-release/ ... f.i386.rpm
then
rpm -Uhv rpmforge-release-0.5.1-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm

then go to:
/etc/yum.repos.d/
make a backup copy of strongbolt2.repo
then delete strongbolt2.repo

yum update should now work. Or knowing strongbolt 2...
# yum –-exclude=iptables update is the one.

yes thats usefull but you are not going to get any support should anything go wrong,
it really seems strongbolt is dead i would advise anyone to consider going over to blueonyx and use a fully updated system

I have a mirror of the SB2 repo.

edit /etc/yum.repos.d/strongbolt2.repo

change this line

baseurl=http://repo.osoffice.co.uk/repo/strongbolt2-4

to this

baseurl=http://repos.ohiointernet.net/oso-sb2/

There haven't been many updates to it, but there was a newer version of SBINIT that was released.

do NOT install the rpmforge repo if you are using bluequartz or blueonyx, it will install updated components that will break your system.

also rpmforge does not offer anything that the sb2 repo had.

BlueQuartz is still receiving updates, and has a wide install base. Strongbolt is not BlueQuartz, Its only the boot, loader, and kernel. Everything else is maintained by the CentOS and BlueQuartz teams.
