The Strongbolt2 ROM
With the arrival of Strongbolt2, we have a new ROM for Cobalt servers.
The new ROM is based on the source from sourceforge.net, but modified to include a 2.6 kernel. The reason for this is to facillitate booting from USB and support for extra hardware.

Project TeraQube

Project TeraQube

Built as a proof of concept and as a testbed for the new Strongbolt2 installer, this Cobalt Qube has all of the features that have been requested - modded the the maximum and running an 'enterprise' kernel.

Our TeraQube is loaded with CentOS 5. This is quickly becoming the 'Operating System of choice' for many Systems Administrators. There are many features that CentOS 5 offers; including PHP5, MySQL5, Apache 2.2 and many many more. For more details on the features included in CentOS 5, please visit http://www.centos.org

At present, BlueQuartz has not been updated to work on CentOS 5. The main administration control panel requires PHP4. So BlueQuartz will have to continue to run on CentOS 4 for the meantime. As soon as BlueQuartz is available for CentOS 5, we will release a new version of Strongbolt to incorporate it. This does however open up the possibilities for using other control panels on the system, such as Plesk and cpanel

500GB SATA Harddrive

Utilising all of the new features of the new 2.6.23 ROM, our TeraQube is equipped with a 500gb SATA hard drive.
When the system boots, the CMOS is configured to boot from sda1. The ROM kernel then loads, looks for the device sda1 and through our silicon image SATA card, the 500gb drive is assigned the address sda1. We would have demonstrated this with a pair of terabyte drives, but the CEO was particularly tight fisted when we put the purchase request in.
